About
I've had a passion for art as long as I can remember. I was recognized with artistic ability at a young age. Although I've had no formal training after high school, I've been painting off and on from the time I was fifteen. About twelve years ago I started painting again in earnest, as well as becoming sober with a new found focus. Impressionism has always been my favorite genre of painting. The colors, light and freedom that this style provides will always be something that I'm striving for.
Abstract painting is another style that I've come to love. It gives great freedom and a sense of individuality that the artist can share with the viewer.
Pop art is also very important to me because of my tootsie pop series. This began as a one off painting and a self portrait of sorts, in the format of the tootsie pop wrapper. It was my brother Brian who remarked after seeing it that I should do a series.
I have now done eleven different themes of tootsie pops and the possibilities are truly endless.
I believe that having a passion in life is one of the most important aspects of being human. I also believe that my best painting still lies ahead of me. I feel compelled to paint. It has become my strongest purpose. I only hope now that I can accomplish enough in order to satisfy my soul.
